Funding for services and programs are paid for by a self-imposed or government ordinance special tax assessment. Our West Ward is home to 55,000 residents who are from diverse backgrounds including African American, Haitian, African, Asian, Latino, and White. The area comprises the neighborhoods of Vailsburg, Fairmont, Westside and Lower Clinton Hill and has numerous economic corridors such as South Orange, Sanford, and 18th Avenues.
Residents are active in over 30 block associations to make sure the community is a safe, clean and exciting place to live. We are committed to restoring the West Ward for future generations to come.
